Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage in the West. It consists of long flowing massage strokes to calm and relax muscles. Swedish massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology as opposed to meridians used in Eastern or Asian massage systems.

During a Swedish massage, the client is undressed and lays under a sheet while the therapists, "undrapes" the area of the body being massaged.  Ultimate care is taken to allow the client to feel completely safe, unexposed and comfortable during a Swedish massage.

The massage begins with the client either supine or prone and generally a full-body massage lasts 60 minutes. The therapists uses light to deep pressure according to the needs and desires of the client.

Hot Stone Therapy

In a "hot stone" therapy, heated and oiled smooth river bed "basalt" stones are used all over the body during the massage to enhance a feeling of warmth and relaxation. Available in 60 or 90 minute sessions.

Usui Reiki Treatments

A calming modality that channels "Universal Life-Force Healing Energy" to help balance the chakras and aid in relaxation and stress reduction thus providing an overall feeling of wellness of mind/body/spirit.

Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words: Rei meaning 'God's wisdom or the Higher Power and Ki meaning life-force energy, hence Reiki means spiritually-guided, universal, life-force healing energy. It is an ancient Japanese technique that is administered through "laying on of hands" by a Reiki Practitioner or Reiki Master who has been specifically 'attuned'  in a sacred ceremony to channel this energy. It is widely believed that our life-force energy is what causes us to be alive and if this energy is low, we are more likely to become sick and feel stressed while if it is high, we are more likely to be happy and healthy.

Getting a 'treatment' helps to re-align the body to its optimum state of wholeness and well-being. After a treatment most clients experience a radiant feeling of peace and tranquility that is beneficial on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. The nature of Reiki is spiritual but it is not religious and has no dogma; there is no requirement to believe in anything. The main premise of Reiki is "intention."

Chair Massage

A chair massage is usually a "back massage" in which the therapist uses medium to deep pressure to 'knead' the muscles in the back and shoulders. Attention is also given to the neck, arms and hands. A chair massage is a great way to get a quick stress-reducing session for those with limited time. This is an excellent massage for office workers. Pre-Natal/Pregnancy Massage

Pre-Natal/Pregnancy massage is offered for women in the second and third trimester using basic Swedish Massage techniques. Clients are positioned using supine and side-lying positions to provide the greatest comfort. It is advisable for clients to check with their physicians prior to booking a massage to be certain there are no restrictions to prevent them having a massage. A massage during pregnancy provides a welcome relief for tired aching muscles, back pain most commonly felt during the latter months of pregnancy and generally helps in relaxation and stress relief as well as stimulating the circulatory system.
